The sea is warm enough for long swims (21 °C or more) in June, July, August, September and October. August has the warmest water at 26.1 °C, July the most sun, and December the most rain.

Choosing when to go
High summer: June to August
Sea 23.5–26.1 °C, highs of 28–31 °C and 12.7–13.6 hours of sun a day. At least 15 sailings a day from Split. The Blue Cave has been closed on 8–12 per cent of days.
Spring: April to May
Sea 16.2–19 °C, highs of 18–23 °C and 11.1–12 hours of sun a day. At least 8 sailings a day from Split. The Blue Cave has been closed on 28–35 per cent of days.
Early autumn: September to October
Sea 22.1–24.9 °C, highs of 22–26 °C and 9.3–10.3 hours of sun a day. At least 9 sailings a day from Split. The Blue Cave has been closed on 27–31 per cent of days.
From November to March the sea drops to 15–20 °C, sailings thin out and many seasonal places close; most visitors come between May and October.
